  • MySQL DATABASE MIGRATION FROM ON-PREMISES TO AWS CLOUD

Requirement

A fintech organization was running their existing setup at on-premises and wanted to migrate the same to AWS cloud. There are couple of database instances (with multiple schemas) which are running in production environment and should be migrated with the minimal downtime ever possible. Adding to the complexity, the databases were of few TB’s in size.

Solution Brief

DevOpSpace was part of the entire project as a sub-contractor organization providing the service to the contracting organization.
We started by understanding the overall scope, the source DB setup and architecting the target environment on AWS.
We also ensured that we have the right information about the schema sizes, the foreign keys, indexes etc at the source side while planning out the migration.
We made use of AWS Database Migration Service for the full load migration as well as the continuous replication of the DB, and then did manual import of foreign keys, indexes etc.
The target DB was validated by the customer application team prior to the cutover.
